Our courses can be given in English, ask us for the possibilities.
The course overview is divided into the subject areas: measuring general, temperature, humidity, pressure, weighing, force and other courses.
E-learning means that the course can be followed completely online, blended learning means that the course consists of three modules: an online preparation, a course day(s) with a teacher and an online test. Conventional means a course with a teacher without e-learning.
The courses are offered at 3 levels. Level 1 is a very first introduction, level 2 is for beginners in the field, but also for employees who have been active in the field for some time, level 3 is for employees with experience (this course follows that of level 2 of the same field).
Measurement General
First introduction to metrology
In this course you will be introduced to what is generally involved in a calibration. The general concepts are explained. Are you new in this field and dealing with calibration? Then this course will help you take your first steps in the world of metrology. With our level 2 and 3 follow-up courses, you can decide how deep you want to dive into this field. But first, Ryan Egbert, our partner from Sine Calibration School, takes you into the world of measurement.
If and when an instrument should be calibrated
This course offers help if you are responsible for the measurement or calibration system in your company, regardless of what you want to have calibrated. You learn to determine yourself which instruments need to be calibrated and how often, but also which instruments do not need to be calibrated. You learn the background of, and the rules regarding, "acceptable traceability".
Basics of measurement, metrology, traceability and uncertainty
This course offers help to those planning to set up a thorough measurement or calibration system in your company, regardless of what you are going to measure or calibrate. This is also the ideal course for new colleagues not yet familiar with traceability or measurement requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, such as uncertainty. An important part of ISO/IEC 17025 is measurement uncertainty. Moreover one of the most important principles of measurement is that an uncertainty is to be calculated by those who do the measurements.
Calculation of uncertainty at calibrations
Especially since the introduction of ISO 17025 you cannot overlook the fact that auditors demand a thorough statement of the measurement uncertainty. Testing laboratories and calibration laboratories must both equally thoroughly determine uncertainty. In two days we go deeper into the matter. We have practical examples from many test laboratories and many different calibrations in hand and, if necessary, we will discuss your own practical situations.
Temperature
First introduction to temperature
In this course you will be introduced to what is involved in a calibration of thermometers. The general concepts are explained and you get to see some demonstrations of a thermometer. Are you new to thermometer calibration? Then this course will help you take your first steps in the world of thermometry. With our level 2 and 3 follow-up courses, you can decide how deep you want to dive into this field. But first, Ryan Egbert from our partner Sine Calibration School will take you through the technique of temperature measurement.
Basics of temperature and thermometer calibration
Temperature measurement and calibration often go wrong. You will be introduced to common errors in temperature measurement and calibration. You will get a better insight into what makes a thermometer so special.
Measuring the surface temperature without contact is, among other things, a widely used method in the food industry. Contact thermometers have the advantage that the temperature indication within limits is a good measure of the temperature of the measured surface. Radiation thermometers do not have the disadvantage that they change because they are loaded at high temperatures, but there are many other problems. They often also measure the temperature of an object in the neighborhood in the reflection of the measurement object. You must also know the emission coefficient of the object to be measured. The contact temperature must be known for a good emissivity measurement.
Continuation of temperature measurement and calibration of thermometers
Your knowledge of thermometry will increase in two days. Uncertainty account, focused on thermometers, is also treated bright and clearly. This course is structured as blended learning, combined learning: you learn via e-learning on our platform on the internet, you conduct supervised experiments and you learn in groups with many opportunities for questions.
This course has been merged with the follow-up course temperature measurement and thermometer calibration. By means of E-learning modules you learn the material prior to the courseday in which these experiments are incorporated.
We take you into our lab, which is built up in the course room, and we measure with you in small groups, you perform experiments and you work them out in an uncertainty budget.
Humidity
Basics humidity measurement and calibration
Rotting food, fungus on paintings, consense in green houses... There are dozens of situations where humidity of air is very important. This course helps you to measure and understand humidity.
In a day and a half, the workshop addresses the special problems that test and calibration laboratories have in the uncertainty calculation of humidity measurements. A lot of knowledge is gained by doing and discussing calculation examples.
Pressure
First introduction to pressure measurement.
In this course you will learn what is involved in measuring pressure in general. The general pressure laws are explained. Are you new and dealing with pressure measurement? Then this course will help you take your first steps in the world of pressure measurement.
Pressure gauge calibrations and pressure measurement in processes
Pressure is an important parameter in processes. An accurate pressure measurement ensures that the quality of the end product is stable and of a high level. Measuring pressure and calibrating pressure measuring equipment is not as easy as it seems and often goes wrong. In one day you will become acquainted with common errors during pressure measurement and calibration. You get a better insight into which issues influence the pressure measurement. This course is subdivided into three modules and is set up as a blended learning model.
Weighing
Calibration of Non-automatic-weighing-instruments (NAWI)
In this course you will learn everything about calibration of weighing instruments and analytical balances according to a recent technical guideline for the calibration of weighing instruments, which has been drawn up by the European Association of National Metrology Institutes.
In one day you will learn about common mistakes when weighing substances and calibrating weighing instruments. You will gain a better understanding of what influences the weighing and calibration of a weighing instrument.
In this course you shall learn all about EN 45501 and related guidelines.
Force
First introduction to strength measurement.
In this course you will be introduced to what is involved in force measurement in general. Henry Zumbrun, from our partner Sine Calibration School, takes you through the technique of force measurement through videos. Through his experience with force measuring and calibrating force gauges you will learn a lot about this field. The videos are translated, US units are used.
Other
Control and traceability of balances, pipettes and thermometers in laboratories
Which equipment do you need to calibrate in a test or medical laboratory and how often? Based on which rules do you make this choice? You will become familiar with the calibration of pipettes, balances and thermometers by taking some measurements yourself, the background will be explained to you. We give this course in collaboration with QAducation, which also organizes the course.
